Using Canespro
How Canespro works, step by step
Canespro takes a different approach to paint-on treatments: instead of trying to penetrate a thick, infected nail, it dissolves that nail away so the infection has nowhere left to live.
The daily fungal nail treatment cycle in six steps
A short step-by-step explainer covering the daily routine used with a 40% urea nail treatment set: soaking, drying, applying the ointment to the diseased nail only, covering with a waterproof plaster, waiting 24 hours and scraping away the softened nail.
Urea at 40% is a keratolytic
At this concentration urea breaks the bonds holding keratin together. Healthy nail is largely unaffected, while diseased, porous nail softens to the consistency of wax.
Why the plaster matters
The waterproof plaster holds the ointment against the nail and keeps the area occluded for 24 hours. Without it the ointment dries out and the treatment stalls.
The daily cycle
Soak, dry, apply, cover, wait 24 hours, soak again, scrape. Each cycle removes a thin layer of infected nail. Skipping days is the single biggest reason treatment takes longer than expected.
After the nail is gone
The exposed nail bed is tender for a few days. Keep it clean and dry, and follow with an antifungal treatment if your pharmacist recommends one, to reduce the chance of the new nail becoming infected.
