The daily routine
Soak, dry, apply thickly, cover with a plaster, wait 24 hours, soak again and scrape.
- · Bathe the affected nail in warm water for around 10 minutes and dry it thoroughly.
- · Apply a thick layer of ointment to the diseased nail only, avoiding the surrounding skin.
- · Cover the nail with one of the supplied waterproof plasters and leave in place for 24 hours.
- · Remove the plaster, soak the nail again for 10 minutes and gently scrape away the softened nail material.
- · Repeat daily until all of the infected nail has been removed — usually two to four weeks.
- · Once the nail is clear, keep the area clean and dry and let the healthy nail grow back.
How to tell it is working
Softened nail comes away as pale, waxy material. Healthy nail feels firm and should never be scraped.
When to stop
Stop when no discoloured or thickened nail remains, or sooner if you get irritation of the surrounding skin.
Frequently asked
How often do I change the plaster?
Once every 24 hours, or immediately if it gets wet or lifts.
Should the ointment touch skin?
No — apply to the diseased nail only and wipe away any that spreads onto skin.
